Using a Video as the Hero Image
You can display a video instead of a still image on your Tablet App's home screen. The 'Hero Image' slot appears directly above the 'Browse Our Menu' button.
You can enter a video URL in Custom Branding > Kiosk: Custom Branding > under 'Greeting Page Design'.
NOTE: Buddi only accepts a URL (aka 'link' or 'website address'); you cannot upload a video directly from your device.
NOTE: Ensure that the 'Use Video' box is checked if you want to use this feature.
File Requirements:
- Acceptable formats: .mp4, .avi, or .GIF
- File size should be 1mb or less.
- File should have a Video URL associated with it (uploaded online).
Video Formatting
If your video format is not compatible with our system, you will need to convert it into an acceptable format: .mp4, .avi, or .GIF. Follow the steps below:
- Access this free video converter tool.
- Click 'Choose File' > find and select your video file > wait for it to finish uploading.
- Click the green 'Start' button.
- Hit the green 'Download' button.
Video File Resizing (Compression)
If the video file is too large, it will not be accepted by our system. You will need to compress the video to reduce the file size. Follow the steps below:
- Access this free video compressor tool.
- Click 'Upload a File' > find and select your video file > wait for it to finish uploading
- Use the 'Resolution' dropdown to select a smaller resolution. This will shrink the video dimensions.
- Click the 'Compress Video' button.
- Hit the 'Download' button.
How to Add the Video URL
NOTE: You need to have a Video URL in order to use this feature.
- Checkmark the 'Use Video' box.
- Copy + paste the Video URL.
- If you have a video that can be readily accessed online, copy + paste its link into the Video URL field.
- If you do not have a Video URL available, you will need to upload your file into Google Drive first, then get the shareable link (URL). Follow these steps:
- Sign in to your personal Google Drive account.
- Click on the '+ New' button in the top left > select 'File Upload'.
- Find and select your video file > wait for it to finish uploading.
- After the video has been uploaded, the bottom right will say '1 upload complete' > click on the Folder icon below.
- Click 'Manage Access'.
- Under 'General Access', use the dropdown to select 'Anyone with the link'.
- Hit the 'Copy Link' button.
- Hit 'Done'.
- Go back to Buddi's 'Kiosk: Custom Branding' area and right-click to select 'Paste' in the 'Video URL' field.
- Scroll down and hit 'Save and Publish'.
- If you have a video that can be readily accessed online, copy + paste its link into the Video URL field.
