Setting up Discounts in Cova (to Sync into Buddi)

This guide helps you set up and manage discounts in Cova POS, ensuring they sync seamlessly with your Buddi menu.

There are two options to set up discounts in Cova for auto-syncing:

Setting up a Cova Promotion for Multiple Products; or
Adding a Singular Discount in Cova

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE ⚠️
Use the *Classic* version of Cova Promotions to set up your discounts, not the new version.

Buddi’s current integration does NOT support Cova’s *New Promotions* Hub feature. Our team is actively working on updating the API to enable compatibility.

Using the New Promotions Hub may cause syncing inconsistencies with Buddi menus. We recommend sticking with the Classic version until further notice.

Setting up a Cova Promotion for Multiple Products
Option 1 - Promotions (Classic)

NOTE: The 'Promotions Fetching' feature must be enabled in Buddi (by our team) with this option.

Creating a Promotion in Cova POS:

Open your Cova Hub.
Navigate to Catalog > 'Promotions (Classic)'.
Click 'Add Promotion'.
Enter a Name (e.g. 'Friday Pre-Rolls').
Choose the type of discount: Percentage Off or Dollar Amount Off.
Set the discount details:
- Select location(s) where the discount applies.
- Choose the frequency (e.g. Fridays).
- Set the start/end dates + start/end times (if applicable).
- Apply the discount to all products or select specific products (e.g. all pre-rolls).

Syncing the Promotion with Buddi:
optional (to speed up the sync)

Navigate to 'My Menu'.
Click on the 'Sync New Products' button to speed up the sync process.
Wait for 5 to 10 minutes for the sync to complete.

Verifying the Promotion in Buddi:

Refresh the menu in Buddi.
Check the 'Pre-Rolls' or 'On-Sale' section to see the applied discounts.

Adding a Singular Discount in Cova (Editing Sale Price in Individual Listings)
Option 2

Accessing the Product Listing in Cova Hub:

Open your Cova Hub.
Under the 'Catalog' section, click on 'My Catalog'.

Adding a Discount to a Specific Product:

Search for the product you want to discount using the UPC.
Click on the product and find the specific variant in your store.
Verify the current regular price.
Click the 'Edit' button next to 'Company Pricing' and enter the sale price.
Save the changes.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE ⚠️
Buddi’s integration with Cova does NOT support date-restricted discounts passed from Cova’s API yet (within individual listings for singular discounts). This can cause discounts to display prematurely on Buddi menus.

To set up discounts for future dates, please use one of the following:
1. Promotions (Classic) in Cova; or
2. Promotions > Discounts in Buddi

Syncing Discounts with Buddi:
optional (to speed up the sync)

Go to the Admin Portal and navigate to 'My Menu'.
Click on the 'Sync New Products' feature to speed up the sync process.
Wait for 5 to 10 minutes for the sync to complete.

Verifying the Discount in Buddi:

Refresh the menu in Buddi to ensure the discount appears.
The product should now display the sale price in red with the regular price crossed out.

Notes:
Handling Multiple Discounts:

If a product has multiple discounts, ensure they are correctly applied in Cova POS.
Use the Cova Hub to search for the product by UPC.
Verify the pricing and ensure the correct discount is displayed.

Syncing and Verifying in Buddi:

Sync the products in 'My Menu' using the 'Sync New Products' feature.
Refresh the menu and verify that the correct discounts are displayed.

Setting up Future Discounts:

We recommend setting any future sales in Cova > 'Promotions'. Our system can't recognize future-dated sales created within individual products (option 2 above), so please enter them within Promotions (Classicin Cova (option 1 above).
