We have implemented an update following our investigation with Moneris, and 3D Secure payments are now processing as expected.


If you previously disabled 3D Secure, you can now re-enable it. If you continue to experience any issues, please reach out to support@buddi.io and we’ll be happy to assist.

Our team is continuing to work closely with Moneris as they review the request and response logs provided.

At this time, the issue remains under investigation on both sides, and we are awaiting further feedback from Moneris to help determine the root cause.

We’ll continue updating this page as we receive more information.

We have been able to reproduce the behaviour both within and outside of our application and have escalated this directly with Moneris.


Current findings indicate the issue is occurring during the 3D Secure authentication step. The same request is returning a “service unavailable” response for some retailers, while working as expected for others.


Our team has shared direct comparisons of working vs failing requests with Moneris and is continuing to work with them to review request/response logs and confirm 3D Secure requirements.


We’ll share updates here as we learn more.

Starting yesterday morning (April 7), some retailers using Moneris with 3D Secure began experiencing checkout failures, with payments returning a “service unavailable” error.


This issue appears to be isolated and is not affecting all Moneris or 3D Secure-enabled locations.


Our team has been able to reproduce the issue and is actively working with Moneris to identify where the 3D Secure step is failing.



What this means for Buddi x Moneris users:

  • Customers may be unable to complete checkout when 3D Secure is enabled
  • Disabling 3D Secure allows payments to process normally



To keep orders flowing, here are your options:

  1. Temporarily disable 3D Secure (recommended for most retailers); or
  2. Disable online payments and accept Pickup orders only (payment in-store); or
  3. Enable e-Transfer Lite as an alternative payment method


We’ll share updates here as we learn more.
