How can I set up discounts in Cova to show in Buddi?

  • You have two options:
    1. Add a singular discount within each product listing in Cova Hub; or
    2. Set up a Cova Promotion for multiple products, such as entire categories. Note that for this option, the 'Promotions Fetching' feature must be enabled by Buddi first.



What is the difference between a singular discount and a Cova Promotion discount?

  • A singular discount in Cova is applied to individual products. You manually set the discount for each product within its specific listing in the Cova Hub. This method is ideal for discounting a single item or a small number of items with specific sale prices.

  • On the other hand, a Promotion discount set up in Cova is designed for multiple products or entire categories. You create a promotion in Cova Hub that can apply to many products at once, such as an entire category like pre-rolls or all items under a specific brand. This type of discount is more efficient for larger sales events or ongoing promotions that cover a broad range of products. I've set up the discount in Cova, but the sale prices aren't showing on the menu. Why?

  • Please note that updates made in your POS dashboard take time to sync with Buddi, as the integration operates under sync cycles.
  • To speed up the process, go to the Admin Portal > 'My Menu' and click on the 'Sync New Products' button. The sync should complete within 5 to 10 minutes.



Do I need to set up the discount in Buddi too?

  • No, as a Cova POS user, discounts automatically sync into Buddi.
  • However, if you prefer to display sale prices only on your Buddi menu (and not in-store), you can set this up in the Admin Portal > 'My Menu' > 'Promotions' > 'Discounts' page.

Why are items being double-discounted at the POS?

  • Known Issue: When orders are placed on tablets or in the online menu, discounts to products are applied twice whenever an order is edited in any way. Cova has a workaround in place (provided below).

    For Example: Customer places an order online that contains a 10% off product. At the POS terminal, the customer decides to add another item to the order, but the discounted product gets applied again (double-discounted / 20% off).

  • How to solve the issue in Cova:
    1. Sign into your Cova Hub.
    2. Go to 'Settings' > 'General Settings'.
    3. Click on the 'Orders' tab > Select your store location.
    4. Click on 'Edit' > Enter 'Yes' for the following feature:
      Remove integrator discounts from items that have promotions on edited orders.
    5. With this feature enabled, discounts for products will not be applied twice upon edits in the POS.



Why are discounts showing earlier than intended?

  • This issue occurs because Buddi’s integration with Cova currently does not support date-restricted discounts passed from Cova’s API. Discounts set in Cova for future dates (within individual product listings) may display prematurely in Buddi menus.
  • To resolve this, remove date ranges from Cova listings and set the discount start and end dates directly in Buddi’s Promotions > Discounts section. This ensures discounts display correctly.
  • Our team is actively working on an update to fully support date-restricted discounts entered in Cova.
