Cova: Pricing Groups

Modified on Tue, 10 Mar at 3:47 PM

Overview

Some retailers using Cova have pricing tiers for specific customers, such as special group or member pricing.

While Buddi can match customers from Cova during the order process, Buddi currently does not retrieve or apply customer-specific pricing tiers.

As a result:

  • Buddi will display and charge the Regular Price entered in Cova unless there is a Sale Price entered within the individual listing or a Cova Promotion applied.
  • This can create a price difference between your Buddi menu and what's entered in Cova.

Why this happens

Cova allows retailers to assign pricing levels to specific customers, such as member pricing, staff pricing, or loyalty tiers.

The Budd x Cova integration currently syncs:

  • Regular product prices
  • Sale prices set directly on product listings
  • Discounts configured through Cova Promotions

However, Buddi does not retrieve customer pricing levels or pricing group discounts from Cova. That means these discounts will not automatically appear on your Buddi menu.

Supporting this functionality through automations would require additional API support from Cova to expose customer pricing levels to external integrations like Buddi.

Current Workarounds

Retailers using Cova member pricing typically use one of the following approaches.

Option 1:  Use Buddi Discount Codes

(Recommended)

Create a Discount Code in Buddi that reflects the special group or member pricing in Cova.

Example workflow:

  1. Create a Collection containing the eligible products.

  2. Create a Discount Code for the Collection you created.

  3. Provide the code to eligible customers (for example through Special Messages).

  4. Customers apply the code during checkout.

This approach allows the correct pricing to appear on the Buddi order before it is sent to Cova.

Option 2:  Adjust the Order in Cova

If a customer forgets to apply their Discount Code:

  1. The order may or may not appear in Cova.

  2. If it does, it will be created in Cova at the regular price.

  3. Staff can manually adjust the order price in the POS before tendering the sale.

This approach requires staff intervention but ensures the customer receives the correct pricing.

Notes:

  • Customer matching between Buddi and Cova does not apply pricing tiers.
  • Member pricing must be handled through Buddi Promotions or POS adjustments.
  • If customers frequently forget discount codes, consider displaying the code using Special Messages or other promotional tools in Buddi.

Future Improvements

Buddi may be able to support customer pricing levels in the future if Cova provides an API endpoint that allows integrations to retrieve and apply those pricing tiers.
