Cannabis Product Syncing with TechPOS

Once your TechPOS integration is active, cannabis products will sync automatically to Buddi — no manual import/export required.



Requirements for Products to Sync

  1. The POS integration must be activated in both systems.
  2. These product details must be entered in your POS catalog:
    1. UPC code
    2. Price
    3. Inventory count

NOTE: Only in-stock products with valid UPCs will appear on your menu.




How the Integration Works


Cannabis Products

  • Once your TechPOS integration is active, cannabis products will sync automatically into your Buddi menu — no manual import/export needed.

  • Buddi pulls the following from TechPOS for each in-stock cannabis product:
    Field
    Syncs Automatically
    Notes
    Product NameSourced from TechPOS
    PriceSet in TechPOS
    UPC / BarcodeMust be 12–14 digits
    Inventory CountOnly in-stock items will appear
    Product Content (including Product Name, LP/Brand, Description, Variant, Units, Strain Type, images, THC/CBD/CBN/CBG, Original Province, Growing Method, Flavours, Terpenes, Ingredients)Pulled from Buddi’s internal database, not from TechPOS




Where does cannabis product content come from?

  • Cannabis content (like photos, descriptions, brands, and cannabinoid info is auto-populated from Buddi’s internal product catalog, not from your POS.

NOTE: We do our best to catalog content for products however we cannot catalog information on every cannabis product that exists due to the sheer number of them.
Retailers can customize or add missing content as needed: Go to Admin Portal > My Menu, select a product that needs content, and add in the missing information.



Best Practice


   DO:

  • Complete your purchase order before requesting integration activation.
  • Use ‘Sync New Products’ in Buddi to refresh your menu faster.
  • Check UPCs match the barcode printed on product packaging.
  • Use the 'Product Catalog' tool to search for exact UPCs in our database.
     
    Finding a UPC in Buddi:
    1. Go to the Admin Portal > 'My Menu' page > click on 'Product Catalog'
    2. Search for a product by name.
    3. View + copy the UPC by clicking on the Barcode icon.

❌  DON’T:

  • Don’t edit all cannabis product details in TechPOS — not everything will be reflected in Buddi.

    Only following will sync into Buddi from TechPOS (cannabis products):
    • Price
    • UPC
    • Inventory Count
    • Exact THC/CBD *must be enabled by our team to work*

  • Don’t use duplicate or placeholder UPCs like 000000000000.
  • Don’t refer to the scannable barcode as the UPC without verifying it may contain extra digits and won’t match Buddi’s catalog as we use exact UPCs.
  • Don’t forget to click Save when editing content in Buddi.
     

⚠️ Common Pitfalls to Avoid

  • Expecting product images or descriptions from TechPOS to appear in Buddi
  • Using SKUs instead of UPCs, or invalid UPC formats
  • Forgetting that only in-stock products sync
  • Assuming syncs are instant (they run on cycles unless manually triggered)
