Configuring Your Online Menu

Modified on Sat, 16 Aug at 1:14 PM

Online Menu: Configuration settings allow you to enable ordering, set payment methods, and customize checkout messages for your online menu.

To access this section:

  1. Sign into the Admin Portal with an admin account.
  2. Go to 'Store Settings'.
  3. Select 'Online Menu: Configuration'.

Configuration Options

1. Ask Customer Age at Checkout

  • When enabled, customers must enter their date of birth (DOB) at checkout using Month/Day/Year dropdowns.
  • DOB data is stored in the Admin Portal > 'Customer Opt-in' page.

TIP: If DOB collection is part of your workflow, add a notice in your 'Custom Pickup/Delivery Message' that ID will be verified at order fulfillment.

2. Age-Restricted Content

  • This optional feature allows you to limit the cannabis content displayed on your online menu.
  • When enabled, all product details are hidden except for:
    • Product Name, LP/Brand, Variant, and Price

3. Allow Orders to be Placed

  • Must be checked to enable online ordering.
  • Steps:
    1. Check 'Allow orders to be placed'.
    2. Save your changes.
    3. Go to 'Store Hours' and make sure hours are set and toggled on.
    4. Refresh your online menu to confirm that 'Add to Cart' buttons appear.

4. Accept Online Paid Orders

Allows customers to pay for their orders online

Before you begin: You’ll need to set up an online merchant account with a supported payment processor (e.g. Paysafe, PayHQ, Moneris, Global Payments, or Cova Pay). Once your account is set up, enter the API keys in Admin Portal > Store Settings > Online Menu: Payment before online payments can be activated.

How to Enable Online Payments:

  1. Go to Admin Portal > Store Settings > 'Online Menu: Configuration'
  2. Check 'Accept online paid orders'
  3. Select your payment provider from the dropdown list.
  4. Under 'Pickup', choose one of the following:
    • Pay Online
    • Payment In-Person
    • Both Options Available *recommended*
  5. Repeat the same for Delivery, Direct Mail, and Curbside (if applicable).
    • Note: Most retailers select Pay Online only for Delivery orders.
  6. Hit 'Save'.

After enabling online payments: Run a few paid test orders in your online menu to confirm everything is working as expected.

5. Pickup Options

  • Choose how customers can pay for Pickup orders:
    • Pay Online
    • Payment In-Person
    • Both Options Available *recommended*
  • Consider adding a 'Custom Pickup Message' (see #8 below) *recommended*

6. Delivery Options (if enabled)

  • Choose how customers can pay for Delivery orders:
    • Pay Online *recommended*
    • Payment In-Person
    • Both Options Available
  • Before this function can be enabled, you need to Set up Delivery and enable the feature in Online Menu: Delivery
    • Consider adding instructions in the 'Custom Delivery Message' box. This message displays when customers select 'Delivery' at checkout. *recommended*

7. Direct Mail & Curbside Pickup Options (if enabled)

  • Same payment options as above, with 'Pay Online' as the recommended option.
  • Similar to Delivery, these functions are disabled by default if your store does not offer these services. You'll need to set up and enable the feature in Online Menu: Direct Mail and/or Online Menu: Curbside first.

8. Custom Pickup Message

  • Displays to customers at checkout when they select 'Pickup'.
  • Use this space to provide instructions, reminders, store policy, ID verification notices, etc.

9. Subtle Place Order Text

  • Appears below the 'Place Order' button on the checkout page
  • Useful for adding last-minute disclaimers (e.g. 'All orders subject to ID verification')
