Overview
Why Collections Matter
Buddi’s Collections tool lets you group products into themed categories that make your menu easier to shop — and more engaging to explore.
Whether you build them using smart filters or hand-pick your favorites, Collections are reusable across all Buddi Promotions (like Discounts, Special Messages, and Featured Products), and help guide customers to exactly what they’re looking for.
They also generate shareable links you can use in your marketing, newsletters, or even in-store with printed QR codes.
Key Benefits:
- Makes your menu more intuitive and engaging
- Improves discoverability for curated or niche products
- Generates a shareable link for each Collection (great for websites, newsletters, QR codes)
- Once created, your Collection can be reused across other Buddi features — no need to select products all over again

Overview + How to Build Collections:
TIP: When working with multiple products, always build Collections first, even if you're just setting up another Buddi promotion.
Collection Types
Buddi offers two core methods for building Collections: 'Select Using Logic' and 'Individually Select'. Each method serves different purposes depending on the type of Collection you're creating.
Branching from the 'Individually Select' method, there is an 'Imported Products from CSV' function that allows you to bulk-import products into a Collection.
METHOD | BEST FOR | AUTO-UPDATES? | EXAMPLES |
---|---|---|---|
Select Using Logic | Smart filters by Brand, Type, THC, etc. | ✅ Yes | High THC, Craft Brands, Province Grown |
Individually Select | Manually curated product groups | ❌ No | Staff Picks, Fruity Vapes |
Bulk Import (CSV) | Large or complex groupings | ❌ No | Rare Terpenes, Special Cannabinoids |

How to Build a Collection
Step 1
Access Collections
Go to app.buddi.io > sign into your Admin Account > go to Promotions > Collections.
Step 2
Click 'Add New Collection'
- Name your Collection. The name you give your Collection sets the URL slug customers will see.
For example, a Collection named Staff Picks will generate a link like:
yourmenu.com/our-products/#/menu/collections/staff-picks
Tip: Use a short, clear name — avoid symbols like colons. - You can use this link on your website, in newsletters, or QR codes to direct shoppers to a specific product group.
Step 3
Choose the Store(s)
- Apply to all locations or select specific store(s).
Step 4
Select Products
- Choose your method based on the type of Collection you're building:
Method 1: Select Using Logic
Automatically updates based on product data.
How it works:
- Use parameters like Type, Brand, THC/CBD %, Size, Price, and many more.
- Add multiple parameters if desired.
- Buddi pulls matching inventory live from your POS to display products in your Collection.
- Collections will auto-update as inventory changes.
Examples:
Select Using Logic Collections
- All Cannabis
- Grown in BC
- Craft Brands
- Balanced CBD-THC
- Heavy Hitters

Method 2: Individually Select
Manually choose specific products. Best for curated picks.
Tips:
- Use your Live Menu or Menu Export for reference
- Use product search or category filters in Buddi
- Remember to hit Save TWICE (in selection pop-up AND setup screen)
- With this method, you will need to update your Collection as new inventory is received.
Examples:
Individually Selected Collections
- Staff Picks
- Cookie Jar
- Taster Joints
- Fruity Vapes
- Rare Terpenes
- Full-Spectrum CBD Oil
- Variety Ounces

Method 2b: Bulk Import via CSV
Use for large lists or advanced planning
How it works:
Export your inventory list in Buddi (Admin Portal > My Menu > Import/Export > Export)
Filter product list in Excel.
Copy Product Name + Barcode columns into sample CSV for import > Save
Upload CSV file within the Collections setup page > 'Imported Products from CSV'
Save your Collection.
Refresh your live menu and verify that the implementation is accurate.
- Toggle on this feature and upload an image if you would like to have a Collection tile appear across the top of your menu.
- We recommend using your brand colors to tie the menu with the rest of your website.
Image requirements:
- least 300x300px
- consistent in size
- be in in JPG/PNG/GIF format
Did you know? GIF images (animated images) are compatible with Buddi! Use them in your Collection tiles to make your menu more fun and engaging.

- Toggle on this feature if you want a filter button to appear in the menu sidebar.
- Recommended for add-on sales (e.g. cookies, gummies, papers, lighters, etc.)
Step 7
Use Timeframe (Optional)
- Set a start and end date (and days of the week)
- Great for seasonal drops or limited-time campaigns
Step 8
Save your Settings
- After selecting applicable products for the discount, ensure that you hit Save twice!
- At the 'Select Products' pop-up box
- At the main Collections setup page
Best Practice
✅ DO:
- Set up Collections before any other Promotion feature so that it can be selected as a defined group of products (e.g. Featured Products, Special Messages, Discount Codes, etc.)
- Use Select Using Logic whenever possible; these dynamic groupings update automatically as you receive new inventory
- Use Individually Select for curated product groupings (e.g. Staff Picks)
- Upload a suitable image tile (at least 300x300 px, same sizes, in JPG/PNG/GIF format)
- Save your changes twice: once when selecting products, again on the main setup page
- Refresh your menu after saving to see the changes
- Use Collection URLs to link from website banners or homepage
- Apply Collection as a filter if you want it to show up in the menu sidebar
- Reorder the Collection tiles to the exact sequence you want → on the main Collections list page, click+hold+drag the two bars on the left (of the Collection you want to move) > drop it to your desired spot.
- Use the top-eft dropdown that says '10' to increase the number of entries being displayed on the main Collections page.
❌ DON’T:
- Don’t skip uploading a tile - the Collection won’t appear without it
- Don’t assume logic-based Collections are static → Buddi updates them automatically
- Don’t forget: iFrame menus can’t use Collection URLs (just use tiles or filters instead)
- Don’t forget to verify product list → confirm your filters pull the right items to be part of the Collection
- Don't link Collections if you are using Wix; linking directly to Collections will not work with iFrames → However, you can still use the tile images
⚠️ Common Pitfalls to Avoid
- Tile not showing? You forgot to upload the image or save.
- Collection not appearing? Didn’t save twice, or forgot to refresh.
- Wrong products? Logic parameters may be too broad/narrow.
- No image ready? Add a Filter Button instead — can be done anytime.
