Rotational Products

Modified on Wed, 13 May at 2:48 PM

Learn how Buddi handles rotational products and how to use the Search & Apply Product Content tool to ensure your menu displays accurate product details.

Overview

Some products may share a single UPC across multiple strains or variants - these are classified as rotational products. This happens when a licensed producer (LP) reuses a UPC with a new harvest, strain, or variant.

Previously, Buddi flagged these products with a *Limited Edition* tag to help retailers quickly identify which listings needed attention. These listings were pre-filled with content from multiple products, allowing retailers to edit them directly based on what is in stock.

Since then, our menu syncing capabilities have been enhanced so that cannabis products without a UPC will still appear in Buddi. As a result, our team now detaches UPCs from products as soon as they are identified as rotational.

Prior to our product update, missing UPCs meant the product would not appear at all. The system has been enhanced to reflect the workflow above, improving menu accuracy even when UPCs are shared or missing.

How Rotational Products Work

  • Linked Products: Cannabis products have a UPC in Buddi’s database and display full content, including descriptions, THC/CBD values, and images.

  • Unlinked Products: If the UPC is not in Buddi’s database, Buddi pulls basic information from the POS, which may be limited.

  • New Process: Products missing a UPC or with rotational conflicts are added to Buddi without a UPC. This ensures the correct name, brand, and variant appear on your menu.

Retailers can then use Search & Apply Product Content to insert full content from our database (if desired).

Please contact us when this happens so that our team can fix the problem promptly. In the meantime, you can edit the listing in My Menu with the correct details.

Using Search & Apply Product Content

  1. Open the product listing in My Menu.
  2. Click Get Started in the Search & Apply Product Content panel.
  3. Enter keywords from the product name.
  4. Select a matching product from the database and click Insert to pull content.
  5. Review populated content; manually add Variant + Unit.
  6. Click Save.

Best Practices

  • Always add Variant + Unit before saving.
  • Delete irrelevant images to avoid confusion (e.g. remove 5×0.5g images if only carrying 1×0.5g).
  • Use Search & Apply Product Content to standardize listings and maintain menu accuracy.
  • After making changes, verify the listing on My Menu for accuracy.
