Troubleshooting: When Products Don't Sync

If your products aren't showing up on your Buddi menu, use this guide to troubleshoot the most common sync issues.


Required Fields Missing in TechPOS

What every in-stock product must include


✅  Product Name

✅  Price

✅  Inventory Count

✅  UPC (12–14 digits)


If any of these are missing or invalid, the product will not sync.

 

 
UPC Format Issues

Cannabis Products


Valid UPCs:

  • Must be 12 or 14 digits
  • Cannot include symbols (e.g. -, #, spaces)
  • Must be unique no duplicates


Common Mistakes:

  • Mistaking SKU for UPC
  • Using placeholder UPCs like 000000000000
  • Referring to the wrong part of the scannable barcode confirm the correct UPC by matching it to Buddi’s Product Catalog



Waiting for the Next Sync Cycle

  • Buddi syncs with TechPOS on a timed cycle. If you’ve recently updated a product:
    1. Click ‘Sync New Products’ in Admin Portal > 'My Menu'
    2. Check the ‘Last Content Sync’ timestamp
    3. Refresh your browser to view updates

Syncs are not real-time  allow time for updates to apply.



New Accessory Category Not Syncing

  • Each new accessory category must be activated manually on Buddi’s end.
    • Email support@buddi.io if you’ve added a new category in TechPOS.
    • Products in unactivated categories won’t appear, even if all fields are valid.
       


Identifying Product Content Issues

  1. Go to Admin Portal > 'My Menu'
  2. Look for:
    1. 'Incorrect UPC detected' errors
    2. Missing or blank fields
  3. Search by UPC to confirm it matches the expected product.
  4. Cross-check the product in TechPOS for completeness.
     

Best Practice


   DO:

  • Always enter your own custom UPCs for accessories they aren’t universal like cannabis SKUs. Here is a guide: How to Create UPCs for Accessories

  • Double-check your product is in stock even valid listings won’t sync if inventory is zero.

  • If a product still doesn’t show after 30-60 mins (and you have force synced), notify Buddi.

  • Use the 'Search & Apply Product Content' function within 'My Menu' listings. This will populate the listing with details from Buddi's database. From there, you can edit as needed.

  • Verify the UPC on the physical product label for accuracy.

  • Use the 'Product Catalog' tab in 'My Menu' to see what UPCs are in Buddi's database.

  • Email support@buddi.io if a product is not yet in our database. Send us photos of your product showing the Name, Variant, and UPC. Our team will add the listing.

  • Notify us each time you add a new category for accessories it needs to be activated on our side.


❌  DON’T:

  • Re-use the same UPCs.

  • Use special characters in your UPCs, such as hyphens or spaces.
    • Cannabis: numbers only (should be 12-14 digits long)
    • Accessories: letters, numbers, or both
